French Toast Mold
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and they aren't wrong! Start your day off on the right foot by preparing a delicious French toast bake. Chef Andrea Duque explains how to prepare this recipe in our Victoria cast iron mold.
Let's get started!
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon (60 g) sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon Cointreau or Triple Sec
- 1/2 loaf (400g) sliced bread (Brioche or Deli-style bread)
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds
- 1 orange, zested
- 1/4 cup blueberries
- Optional: Maple syrup or honey for serving.
Preparation
- In a medium bowl, beat the eggs, heavy cream, extracts, and orange liqueur, and mix well. Finally, add the orange zest.
- Arrange the slices of bread in a shallow dish and pour the previously made mixture over them until the bread is covered. The bread must be completely soaked with the liquid; to achieve this, turn the slices over so they are well moistened.
- Once the bread slices are well soaked, distribute them in the cast iron mold, add the chopped almonds and blueberries, and let rest in the refrigerator for at least an hour or overnight.
- To finish: preheat the oven to 350° F / 175° C and bake for 40 - 45 minutes.
- Serve hot and accompany with maple syrup or honey.
Sit back and enjoy your French toast bake!
