Beef Bourguignon in a Dutch Oven
Our friend from Cooking By Stephie shows us how to prepare a Beef Bourguignon in a Dutch Oven as a main course option for Christmas Eve. An easy recipe full of flavor!
Ingredients
- 500g of beef chuck or veal.
- 150g of bacon
- 400ml of red wine (a young one is best)
- 150ml of beef or vegetable broth
- 1 large onion, cubed
- 1 large carrot, cubed or in half-moons
- 2 tbsp of wheat flour or cornstarch
- Mushrooms (to taste)
- Salt and pepper
- 1 tsp of bay leaf, oregano, rosemary, and thyme
- 1 tbsp of tomato paste

Preparation
- In a cast iron pot, add the bacon without any extra fat and continue with the meat cut into cubes of approximately 2 cm. Do not move it so that it sears. Remove the meat.
- Add the chopped onion and carrot, then return the meat and bacon to the pot. Stir everything well.
- Season with salt and pepper and add sifted flour.
- Add 3 cups of wine for every 1 cup of broth.
- Cover and place in the oven at 180°C (350°F) for two hours.
- Now sear the mushrooms and add them back to the pot, stir, and it's ready!
