WHAT IS BIODIVERSA?

The Biodiversa Foundation began with conservation projects for curassows, river turtles, and primates; their years of effort in caring for fauna and flora have earned them recognition from various organizations that trust the work that has been carried out in Yondó.

Thanks to this, they have obtained funds for the purchase of land that allows them to implement more actions focused not only on forest conservation, but also on engaging the community in generating benefits and new opportunities for them.

DECEMBER 2025 PROJECT FOLLOW-UP

Community-based protection of Amazon turtles

During the 2025 season, 80 guardians from four communities, led by the Curuinsi Huasi Association, protected the main turtle nesting beaches on the Amazon River, on the border between Colombia and Peru. Thanks to this collective effort, it was possible to protect 67 mothers, 58 nests, and nearly 1,540 hatchlings of iconic species such as the charapa, cupiso, and taricaya, strengthening the conservation of these species.

Education and legacy for the new generations

Since the beginning of the program, nearly 150 guardians from six communities in Colombia and Peru have protected 1,641 mothers, 1,426 nests, and more than 35,600 hatchlings. In parallel, the project develops environmental education processes with schools in the region, both on the beaches and at the newly inaugurated Bawetá Interpretation Center (Charapa Museum), with the aim of training the guardians of tomorrow and ensuring that this legacy of care continues over time.

No donation certificate is issued, as the 3% contribution is not made on an individual basis, but rather as a company, within a collective impact model.

This allows us to channel resources more efficiently and continuously into real conservation projects, ensuring that every purchase—without the need for additional paperwork—contributes directly to the care of the Colombian Amazon.
